Anyone For Tennis?

Well Wimbledon is over for another year – no British singles winner this year though! Whilst the professionals have moved on from London, watching tennis for two weeks on the telly can often encourage us to dust off the racket and head for the courts ourselves.

As chiropractors in a busy chiropractic clinic in central London we encourage people to get more active and take regular exercise. However this does come with some words of caution, especially if it has been sometime since you have taken any exercise. It is so easy to overdo it and cause injuries and strains which could have been prevented by following some simple steps to stay safe.

If you are dusting off your racket for the first time in awhile or even if you do take regular exercise our chiropractors recommend you follow these simple steps:

  • Always warm up before starting
  • Stay hydrated
  • Be mindful of the pressure you are putting on joints with repetitive actions such as serving and ground strokes
  • Warm down after you finish

You may want to consult with your chiropractor or other health care professional before undertaking any new form of exercise. They will be able to best advise you of what exercise is best for you.
