Has Back Pain Become the ‘Norm’?

With a massive 80% of the population suffering from back pain at some point during their lives, it’s all too easy to class a painful spine as a normal part of modern life. But our London chiropractor warns that this is a dangerous mindset to have. Back pain is common, but that certainly doesn’t make it normal, or even something that you should accept as part of your life.

While it’s true that anyone can develop back pain, and there are a wide variety of spontaneous medical conditions that can cause it, there are also some lifestyle choices that increase your risk of developing a painful back condition. These include:

  • Getting older
  • A lack of exercise and being unfit
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Poor posture
  • Smoking
  • A job that requires you to lift, push or pull heavy items
  • A job that requires you to sit down for long periods of time

If any of the risk factors above apply to you, start taking action now. Control the things that you have the power to control – you have a lot of influence over the health of your spine.
