An active lifestyle and taking regular exercise is important for our health. As chiropractors in a busy central London chiropractic clinic we see the effect that sedentary and stressful lifestyles have on our patients health, especially their backs, everyday.
We encourage everyone to get more active and to take regular exercise, however, one of the most common reasons we hear for not taking exercise (after “I don’t have time!”) is that “I hate going to the gym”. It seems that most people at some time have taken out gym membership but that’s about as close to the gym as they got.
The good news is that you don’t have to go to the gym to take exercise. Here are our three most favourite ways to exercise:
Walking – it’s free and accessible. Get a good pair of shoes and your off.
Swimming – a great all-round form of exercise. Yes, you do need to find a pool but most people can find a pool close to where they live or work.
Dancing – don’t worry you don’t need to don the lycra and sequins (well not if you don’t want to!). Whatever moves you want to do there’s a class to teach you. Great aerobic work out and we think the most fun of all.
Check with your chiropractor or other health care professional before starting any new form of exercise. They will be able to advise you about the most appropriate exercise for you.
