Have You Really “Slipped a Disc”?

“I think I may have slipped a disc” – that’s a sentence that our London chiropractor hears on a frequent basis. But it’s not an assumption that’s always correct.

The term “slipped a disc” is perhaps somewhat overused. However, an examination must be carried out in order to correctly diagnose the condition.

So what are the symptoms of a slipped disc?

Generally, people with a slipped disc will experience pain on one side of the body. This pain usually starts slowly and gradually worsens over time. The pain may get worse when pressure is put on the nerve, such as through sneezing, coughing or sitting down. Numbness or tingling sensations are also common symptoms of the condition.

If you are suffering from back pain, it’s important to undergo an examination with a reputable chiropractor and/ or a medical professional. This is the only way to achieve an accurate diagnoses and an effective solution.
