Here at Central London Chiropractor Motionback we know just how important it is to look after your back.
A new study has found that when a woman puts on a pair of high heels she is putting a lot of strain on her joints, which could then lead to long term joint issues. It has also been found that high-heeled shoes could lead to an increased risk of osteoarthritis, which is a condition that affects your joints when they become damaged.
When we walk our feet are carrying all of our weight and depending on what shoes we are wearing it can affect the way we walk and how we put pressure on the rest of our body.
Being a leading Central London Chiropractor we would like to share these tips on how to be safe in high-heeled shoes.
- Try not to walk too fast in your heels. Think like a ballerina and walk elegantly with you head held upright
- Hold your shoulders and chest back when walking
- Tense your pelvic floor muscles
- Try to spread you weight evenly over the whole shoe
If you take this advice and walk in heels in moderation, you should be able to keep your back safe.
