Are you running the London Marathon this Sunday? Great for you, as a busy London Chiropractic clinic we are always supportive of the race. It is a great event which sees people push their bodies to the limit all for a good cause.
We really admire runners in the marathon. A lot of you will have been preparing many months now, some of you only a few weeks, whatever your preparation you all have determination to succeed.
Leading London Chiropractor gives its top tips for the final preparation
You will have all trained in your own ways and followed your own methods to get where you are now, however there is one thing you should all have in common this last week.
We can’t stress enough the importance of this piece of advice. The best thing you can do now is to calm down.
It may seem alien and strange to you after weeks and months of regular running and training but it’s the right thing to do and you know it.
Not much to gain, so much to lose
There are a few reasons why it is really important you taper down over the next week in the run up the big race. Firstly and importantly to us a leading London chiropractor, it will save your body.
Running 26 miles or more will put your body’s shock absorbers in to a lot of action and there is no reason to do so this week. So give it a rest.
This leads on to a very important reason for winding down this week; you can’t improve your fitness and performance a great deal over the next few days, but you can do a lot of damage.
Think about all the hard work and training that you’ve put in recently, do you think a few extra sessions will add to your performance?
However what are the chances of niggling a recurring injury or worse, suffering from a sprain, or even a break?
As you will know, running puts a lot of strain on the body and you don’t want to risk an injury with needless running at this last stage.
So take it easy, do a London chiropractor a favour and don’t add any extra stress on your body and prepare yourself for a big race coming up.
Good luck and enjoy.
