Sceptical about Chiropractic? So was one of our patients at Central London Chiropractor Motionback

Here at our Central London Chiropractor we have had lots of patients who have been very skeptical about chiropractic treatment. As a leading Central London Chiropractor we would like to share some of the history behind chiropractic treatment to help reassure you.

It has been found that spinal manipulation was used thousands of years ago in ancient Greek and Chinese civilisations. More modern chiropractic treatment being used can be traced back to 1895 when Daniel David Palmer from Canada performed the first chiropractic adjustment. Mr Palmer then went on to found The Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1897.

Since the 20th century, chiropractic as a profession has grown and developed worldwide and has now become highly respected and recognised within the primary care environment. Chiropractic is a unique profession because it is organised internationally and there are international standards for education.

The Chiropractors Act 1994 provides statutory regulation for the profession and the title ‘chiropractor’ is protected under this legislation. The statutory regulator is the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and it is illegal to practise as a chiropractor without being registered with the GCC. All British Chiropractic Association members must be registered with the GCC.

Here is a testimonial from one of our patients who was very sceptical at first:

I’d accepted that neck stiffness and pain was an annoying part of life for me. I have been proved wrong…
