With two Bank Holidays this month, many of us will be tempted to relax and unwind with an alcoholic beverage or two. But if you suffer from back pain then cutting down on the booze could improve your symptoms.
We all know that alcohol is linked to a range of health issues, but according to our London chiropractor, alcohol may contribute more than you think to back pain.
Muscles tighten in an attempt to get rid of alcohol in the body which can cause painful muscle aches and even spasms. In a further attempt to rid the body of alcoholic toxins, more water is used than usual which can lead to dehydration – another major cause of muscle pain.
While it is true that some people can tolerate alcohol better than others, frequent or excessive drinking is not a good idea if you suffer from back pain.
