According to Google, 1 in 20 searches is about a health-related issue. And let’s be honest, most of us have been tempted to visit “Dr Google” instead of our GP or healthcare professional at one time or another. There is no denying that it can be helpful to have medical information at our fingertips, but many of us are often left panic stricken at the results.
Doctors and healthcare professionals such as chiropractors train for years before being able to make an independent diagnosis. In fact, making a diagnosis is one of the hardest things to do in medicine; doctors and chiropractors ask questions about you and your family history, conduct examinations, carry out tests and evaluate risk factors. This cannot be done online.
It’s also important to remember that the internet is not very well regulated, so you should read health information with caution.
If you’re worried about your health, the first person you should contact is a trained medical professional. After all, “Dr Google” isn’t really a doctor at all!
